Clinical Pathology Lab in Visakhapatnam

Routine urine, stool, semen and body-fluid examinations – the everyday tests that help your doctor spot infection, kidney problems and digestive issues early.

OVERVIEW

About clinical pathology at SMS Diagnostics

Clinical pathology is the branch of laboratory medicine that examines body fluids such as urine, stool, semen and other fluids to help detect, diagnose and monitor disease. These are often the first tests a doctor orders, because simple, inexpensive investigations can reveal a great deal – from a urinary tract infection or kidney stress to intestinal parasites or hidden blood in the stool.

At SMS Diagnostics, Visakhapatnam, our clinical pathology section handles routine and specialised fluid examinations using physical, chemical and microscopic analysis. Located opposite the KGH OP Gate, we are easy to reach for patients referred from hospitals and clinics across Vizag. Our team guides you on correct sample collection so that your result is as reliable as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Tap a question to see the answer.

What is a complete urine examination (CUE)?

A CUE is a routine urine test that checks the physical appearance, chemical content (sugar, protein, ketones, pH) and microscopic findings (pus cells, red cells, crystals) of urine. It helps detect urinary infections, kidney disease and diabetes.

Do I need to fast for a urine or stool test?

No fasting is required for routine urine or stool tests. A first-morning urine sample is generally preferred because it is more concentrated.

How long does a semen analysis take?

The analysis itself is performed soon after the sample is received, because sperm motility must be assessed within a short time. Please contact us for report timings.

Can I collect the urine sample at home?

Yes, but use a sterile container from the laboratory and bring the sample within about one hour. For best accuracy, collecting the sample at the lab is recommended.
