Serology & Immunology Tests in Visakhapatnam
Antibody, antigen and immune-marker tests for fever, infections, arthritis and infectious-disease screening.
About serology & immunology at SMS Diagnostics
Serology tests detect antibodies produced by your immune system or antigens from an infecting organism in the blood. Immunology tests measure markers of inflammation and immune activity. Together they help diagnose infections such as dengue, typhoid and hepatitis, and conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Visakhapatnam sees seasonal outbreaks of dengue, typhoid and malaria. SMS Diagnostics supports doctors and patients across Vizag with fever-panel and infectious-disease screening tests, alongside pre-operative and antenatal screening. All infectious-disease results are handled confidentially.

Frequently asked questions
Tap a question to see the answer.
Which dengue test should I take – NS1 or IgM?
The NS1 antigen test is most useful in the first few days of fever, while IgM antibodies usually appear after about the fifth day. Doctors often order both together with a CBC and platelet count.
Is fasting needed for the Widal or dengue test?
No. These blood tests do not require fasting.
What does a high CRP mean?
A raised CRP indicates inflammation or infection somewhere in the body. It is not specific to one disease, so your doctor will interpret it alongside your symptoms and other tests.
Are HIV and hepatitis test results kept confidential?
Yes. Infectious-disease screening results are handled confidentially and shared only with the patient or the referring doctor.
What tests are included in a fever profile?
A fever panel commonly includes CBC with platelets, dengue tests, malaria antigen or smear, typhoid tests, urine routine and CRP. The exact panel depends on your doctor's advice – contact us for details.
